At issue is a March 26, 2012 cover story that alleges the singer was
going to remarry Whitney Houston prior to her passing a few weeks earlier.
Derrick Handspike, a veteran of the music
industry, was cited as a source in the story and is listed as a defendant in
the lawsuit.
Brown married Etheridge last June and has one child with Whitney.
In other legal news concerning the artist, he was sentenced this month
to 55 days in jail for yet another DUI arrest. He ended up serving a
total of nine hours.
